The Management of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC in Nigeria refuted media reports of killings of 189 Corps members in Zamfara, Kaduna and the abduction of 378 Corps Members in the North-West geopolitical zone of the country.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the NYSC, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi and made available to Journalists in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
According to her, “no Corps Member was murdered by bandits this year in the said States, neither was any abducted in the geo-political region as unscrupulously written”.
“Discernible minds know that the story is a figment of the writer’s imagination, as nothing of such happened”, she added.
She also said that it is imperative to restate that balanced reportage is the hallmark of good journalism. The integrity of information pushed to the public domain should never be in doubt.
She however said that the Scheme is always open to enquiries in order to guard against feeding the public with inaccurate, or completely false information.
Adenike therefore reassured the general public of the Scheme’s continuous work in concert with security agencies in order to ensure the safety of Corps Members across the nation.
