Osun state: Farmers to benefit from farm inputs subsidy
A group of farmers in Osun state has praised Governor Ademola Adeleke for providing the state’s agriculture sector with necessary equipment and subsidy for farm inputs.
Mr Dauda Bamigbade, the leader of the group stated in a statement in Osogbo, that the governor’s intervention is an important support for the agricultural sector prior to the rainy season.
“We want to sincerely appreciate Gov. Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke of Osun State for pushing to fulfill most of his electoral promises in a short while.
“Among the promises is clearing the backlog of half salaries arrears, payment of gratuity arrears, infrastructural development, health sector development, affordable schools and well equipped, agricultural development and incentives for farmers.
“We feel so blessed to witness this period in our darling state. Every sector has been touched within 100 days in office.
“This is a pleasant surprise because many don’t believe it can be done,” Bamigbade said.
He stated that, they were thrilled when they read in the newspaper that the governor had given the green light for an input subsidy for farmers.
“We were so thrilled because this is our area of concern which needs an emergency approach. Most farming inputs are now on the high side.
“This inflation rate keeps many farmers out of business because of the increase in cost of production, with a huge effect on prices of commodities,” he added.
Bamidele called on the governor to ensure that the subsidised inputs reach farmers properly by supervising the implementation process.
