The Borno State Governor on an official visit to Damboa LGA, shared food items and N125.5m cash to over 40,000 families in Damboa, headquarters of Damboa Local Government in southern Borno.
The Governor toured three LGAs in the past three days which included Chibok, Askira, and Damboa.
During the tour, the Governor supervised the distribution of food items and cash to 14,900 male heads of households and another 25,100 female heads of households, most of who have lost their means of livelihood and could not have access to farmlands.
Each of the 14,900 males received a bag of rice, a bag of maize grits, and a bag of beans, while 25,100 females received N5,000 cash and wrapper.
Addressing the beneficiaries, Governor Zulum explained that the rice distributed was part of the Federal Government’s donation to the State through the Nigerian Customs Service.
Commissioning of projects
The Governor also commissioned the rebuilt Government Girls Secondary School with newly constructed block of classrooms donated by the member representing Gwoza, Chibok and Damboa LGAs at the federal constituency.
Also commissioned were the re-constructed divisional police station which was destroyed by insurgents and newly constructed police quarters as well as inspection of construction of 500 detached housing units.
