“Lagos – Niger Republic Rail lines will turn Kano to West Africa’s Commercial Nerve Center” – Ganduje

The Lagos – Ibadan – Abuja – Kaduna rail lines, linking up Kano and terminating in Maradi in Niger Republic is set to benefit the Ancient commercial City of Kano more than any other state of the Federation.

The Governor of Kano state, Dr. Umar Ganduje stated this during the flag-off of the Kano – Gwarzo to Dayi in Katsina state reconstruction road projects facilitated by Senator Barau Jibrin representing Kano North Senatorial District.

He said the project adds to the countless numbers of projects facilitated by President Muhammadu Buhari for the benefit of Kano people.

For example, the Lagos/Ibadan Railway which is billed to pass through Kaduna to Kano, then Katsina and up to Niger Republic will champion the return of Kano as the Commercial Nerve center of West Africa,” Ganduje said.

Ganduje stressed that the rail line from Kano through Dambatta, Kazaure, Daura, Katsina to Maradi in Niger Republic, all being constructed on Standard Gauges will eventually put Kano in more advantageous position in economic growth and development.

The Governor said other road projects that Kano has benefitted from the Muhammadu Buhari regime includes, Kano – Maiduguri, Kano – Kaduna – Abuja, Kano – Katsina and now Kano to Dayi in Malumfashi local government area of Katsina State.

Governor Ganduje who was overwhelmed by the Kano to Dayi reconstruction road projects, assured that his Government is ready to settle compensations resulting from the project.

Campaign promise

Senator Barau Jibrin reminded the people that the road project was the subject of the campaign promises been fulfilled by both President Muhammadu Buhari, Ganduje and himself, adding that “the people have been clamouring for the rehabilitation of the road as a result of insecurities, incessant accidents which crippled economic activities”

The Senate Appropriation Committee Chairman, added that the project is expected to be completed as at when scheduled, commending President Buhari and his Cabinet members who ascented to the memo seeking for the Kano – Dayi reconstruction road Projects.

The Permanent Secretary Federal Ministry Works and Housing Dr. Babangida Husaini said the road which is 83KM with three bridges will consume N62.7 Billion Naira and it is expected to be completed by 2022.

The Chinese company handling the project CGC, through its chief Executive Officer Mr Pan Giojing promised to complete the project as at when due.
