The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has condemned the unprovoked attacks and killing of several innocent worshippers at the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, Owo, Ondo State, Southwest, Nigeria.

This was contained in a Statement signed by the Media Assistant to the CAN President, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji.

CAN also called on the security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators of the dastardly criminality saying the act is sad, wrong, condemnable, outrageous, unacceptable and satanic.

It further stated that the unprovoked attack and assault on a place of worship is uncalled for as it described it as raw persecution by possessed, demonic mindless agents of Satan who are not working for the good of the country and who must not escape when the wrath of God descends heavily on them and fights them from their roots.

The Leadership of  CAN is also reiterating its quest for a total overhauling of the nation’s security architecture  and called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the recycling of those criminals and terrorists in the name of de-radicalising programme saying if the programme is not counterproductive, how comes the criminalities are always on the increase leaving no part of the country safe again.

The body also called on the State Governors to meet with the President to find the lasting solution to these killings, as it added that issuing mere press statements of condemnations and what looks like empty threats is  not a way out of it.

CAN went on to commiserate with all the bereaved, the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria and the Ondo State Government.
