Oyo State, Private Sector Partner for ‘Vibing December’

The Oyo State Government has teamed up with various private and corporate organisers to host Vibing December, popularly known as Faaji December.

According to media reports, Vibing December is a month-long celebration staged across the state to wrap up 2025 on a high note and welcome 2026 in grand style.

Briefing newsmen in Ibadan on Monday, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun, explained that the initiative would generate extensive business opportunities for residents throughout the Holiday season.

Olatubosun said that the carnival and its associated events would run from Dec.1 to Jan. 2, transforming the state into a vibrant hub of cultural expression and entertainment.

He stated that the festivities would not be restricted to Ibadan, but would also take place simultaneously in other towns across the state.

He assured the public that adequate security measures would be put in place to protect lives and property, before, during and after the celebrations.

The commissioner said that corporate sponsors and cultural groups would be contributing wide range of activities.

According to Olatunbosun, the Nigerian Breweries Plc. will stage its legendary December Experience, featuring beer villages, set up at designated centres from Dec. 4 till Jan. 2.

“Another partner, D Fantasyland, will host its variety programme at the Recreation Club open field in Sabo, Ibadan, from Dec. 24 to 26.

“Meanwhile, the University of Ibadan open field will host the Ojude UI celebration on Dec. 20, accompanied by artistes’ hangouts and musical concerts,” he said.

He further stated that the one-month programme would also feature the ‘Amala Cuisine Exhibition’, organised by the Amala Festival, on Dec. 6.

The Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival, organised by the Ogbomoso Community, would run from Dec. 18 to 22.

“The Oyo Durbar is set to take place on Dec. 27, while the Amala Festival and the Atewolara Festival will both be held at the National Museum in Aleshinloye, Ibadan, on Dec. 14.”

“In addition, JAGZ Hotel and the Hoteliers Association will host a series of variety shows and Hotel Vibes events throughout the festive season.”

The commissioner added that the celebrations will also feature a fashion exhibition, presented by Ibadan Fashion Rising, and Faaji Cruise on the Eleyele River.

He explained that the cruise, with celebrity appearances, would be organised by Royal Cruise Entertainment.

The entire Vibing December carnival is expected to be formally launched by Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in the first week of December.
