Patrick Ubajaka Declares Interest For Anambra South Senatorial Seat
By Chinwe Onuigbo, Awka
Patrick Ubajaka, a senatorial aspirant representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially declared his candidacy for the Anambra South Senatorial District seat.
The seat became vacant following the passing of the late Ifeanyi Ubah in July 2024.
Ubajaka, a kinsman of the late Ubah, emphasised that only a close relative should be entrusted to complete the senator’s remaining tenure.
He expressed his belief that his strong connection to Ubah and his deep understanding of the district’s needs through years of involvement with the APGA position him uniquely for this role.
“The senatorial district encompasses seven local government areas—Aguata, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, and Orumba South. It is a region known for its concentration of entrepreneurs, influential politicians, and esteemed traditional leaders.
“Representing such a diverse and vibrant area in the Senate demands a relational personality and a team player. I possess these qualities, evidenced by my decades of experience as a private entrepreneur and former public servant,” Ubajaka stated
Seven-Point Agenda
Ubajaka plans to unveil a comprehensive seven-point agenda aimed at addressing the pressing issues faced by the Anambra South Senatorial District.
Highlighting his qualifications, he noted his history of successful project execution under the European Union and his commitment to creating impactful legislation.
“My candidacy is not only a personal ambition but a divine orchestration to serve the people. I am among the founding members of APGA, and I aim to carry forward Ubah’s legacy, ensuring his vision is sustained. If elected, I will work tirelessly to transform the lives of our people through effective representation and practical initiatives, ” he said.
As he appealed for the APGA leadership’s endorsement, Ubajaka reassured constituents that his legislative agenda would align closely with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s goals of fostering a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Anambra State.
In addressing his candidacy, he reflected on the practice in more developed political systems where close relatives often succeed their kin in office without undergoing an election.
Ubajaka believes this reflects the deep ties within communities and exacerbates the trust between constituents and their representatives.
Ubajaka further expressed eagerness to embark on a campaign centered around facilitating essential services and enacting bills that would support the district’s robust business community while maintaining an open door policy for his constituents.
“I’m prepared and committed to making a meaningful impact for the people of Anambra South,” he affirmed.
He added that his experience in various sectors had positioned him to be a formidable voice in the Senate.
