A wave of political realignment has hit Adamawa State, as prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

They cited the development strides of the APC-led Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as their reason for switching allegiance.

Leading the defectors, Chief Joel Madaki, who served as PDP State Chairman twice, and one of the founding fathers of the party in the state, said that their decision followed a series of consultations and engagements with both party elders and grassroots supporters.

According to him, the team was warmly received by APC elders who appreciated their mission and commitment to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth in Adamawa State.

“Upon our return from Abuja, we briefed our constituents, and they unanimously agreed that we should join the All Progressives Congress (APC),” Chief Madaki stated.

He highlighted several key projects executed by the Federal Government in Adamawa State as evidence of the APC’s dedication to inclusive national development.

These include the establishment of the Federal University of Agriculture in Mubi,
the construction of the Jabbelamba–Belel road, the approval for the establishment of a Police College in Fufore Local Government Area, and the construction of a state-of-the-art NDLEA Barracks, described as one of the best in the African sub-region.

Chief Madaki also commended President Tinubu for appointing Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser, describing it as a recognition of Adamawa State’s growing influence in national politics.

“This singular appointment has placed Adamawa State at the pinnacle of Nigerian politics and governance. If we continue to join hands with the Federal Government, we shall reap more dividends of democracy,” he said

He noted that the visible progress being witnessed in Adamawa is a result of improved financial inflow from the Federation Account, which he attributed to the proactive leadership of President Tinubu.

“Finally, let it be clear that these and other reasons are what motivated me and my supporters to declare our loyalty and resolve to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). Here we are today, officially joining the APC so that we can make Nigeria and Adamawa State great,” Chief Madaki concluded.

The defection is seen as a major boost to the APC’s political strength in Adamawa State as the party continues its consolidation efforts ahead of future elections.
