The National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has inspected the new office of the People’s Democratic Institute, PDI, in the Asokoro precinct of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, saying the complex is ready for commissioning.
A press statement from the Special Adviser to the PDP National Chairman Simon Imobo-Tswam quoted Ayu, saying, “planning was crucial to the development process, and research was at the center of the planning effort.
“PDP is the party of development, as Nigerians know. We believe in innovation, and the PDI is where research is carried out, and ideas are incubated for impactful development.
“That is why we located the PDI in this quiet and serene environment. Soon, we will return here to commission the office.”
He added that the: “PDI is the place for ideation, where new ideas are birthed; it’s a place where robust discussions and rigorous policy analyses are held, and all geared towards making life more meaningful for Nigerians. PDI is the intellectual-cum-research arm of Nigeria’s only organic political party.”
Recall that on the assumption of office on December 10, 2021, the PDP national chairman pledged to revive the PDI and reposition it for more excellent mandate delivery. This is now a promise kept.
Some of the NWC members who accompanied Ayu were: the National Secretary, and Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the National Publicity Secretary. Debo Ologunagba; the National Treasurer, Ahmed Yayari Mohammed; and the National Auditor, Okechuckwu Daniel.
The activities of the People’s Democratic Institute were scaled down following the PDP’s loss in the 2015 presidential election. The event led to the relocation of the institute to its national headquarters. Now, the party feels it is time to open the institute’s doors again for intellectual discussion.
