Lawal Adamu Usman, popularly known as Mr. LA, has defeated five other aspirants to emerge as the senatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded Kaduna Central Zone senatorial primaries.
He emerged with 99 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ibrahim Usman, popularly known as Sardauna Badarawa, who scored 84 votes to emerge second.
While other aspirants, Musa Bello and Inuwa Ahmed, pulled 43 and 15 votes to come 3rd and 4th, respectively.
Also on the list were Usman Muhammed and Hajia Shehu Talatu. The duo maintained 5th and 6th positions with 2 and 5 votes as announced by the Electoral Committee.
Voice of Nigeria correspondent reported that the primaries election began immediately after the accreditation of delegates.
They noted that250 delegates were accredited, while 248 delegates took part in the election.
Meanwhile, the delegates who participated in the election process were drawn from the Central Senatorial Zone, which covers about seven local government areas of the state.
Usman was the PDP’s Kaduna central senatorial candidate in the last general elections and was defeated by the incumbent Senator Uba Sani at the polls during the 2019 elections.
