PDP to flag-off presidential campaign in Akwa Ibom

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP,  will on Monday the 10th of October flag off its Presidential campaign in Uyo the Akwa Ibom Capital.

Director General of the campaign Council, addressing journalists said all is set for the official campaign of the party which will be issue based and devoid of violence.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State North West Nigeria while remarking on the withdrawal of some PDP governors not getting involved with the campaign said ” We are not involved in a war of attrition. It is a political disagreement and we’re working to resolve all of those issues. We are doing everything humanly possible to bring all aggrieved members on board. Atiku is the right person to provide Nigeria with the required leadership and he has the experience to hit the ground running on assumption of office”.

He said the PDP and Atiku are “seek for the collaboration of Nigerians and the understanding as we go about campaigns as I said, ours is going to be based on issues and we seek to have violence free electoral process. In any case, our principal has been known to be a peaceful man and his personality speaks.”

On the PDP not being popular in the South East of the country, the campaign director General noted that is not the case “We’ve traveled throughout the nooks and crannies of this country, particularly, both around the states before the primaries campaign, and he was in the southeast. Only last week, we were in Enugu the political capital of that region for consultations. No states during the consultation will be left out. So, we’re very prepared to go into the southeast and we believe that we’re still the number one candidate for the southeast and we are going to consult everywhere in all of the six political zones in this country”.

Flag off of the PDP’s Presidential campaign will generate excitement for party members but it waits to be seen whether or not the National Chairman Iyorcha Ayu will be in attendance as well as some governors calling for his removal before theh participate in any activit3s if the party.
