The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr. Adeladan Rafiu Olanire, has emphasized the crucial role the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) plays in driving the nation’s digital transformation.

He made this known during a courtesy visit to the NDPC headquarters in Abuja, where he was received by the National Commissioner/CEO, Dr. Vincent Olatunji.

Commending the Commission’s efforts and Dr. Olatunji’s leadership, Mr. Adeladan reaffirmed NDPC’s strategic importance in achieving the Ministry’s digital agenda. He pledged continued support to the Commission and committed to improving staff welfare through enhanced funding.

In his response, Dr. Olatunji praised the Permanent Secretary’s proactive leadership and presented an overview of NDPC’s evolution. He stressed the global relevance of data protection amidst growing digital usage and outlined recent achievements, including increased audit filings and the localization of data protection certifications.

The visit served to deepen collaboration, address challenges, and reinforce the Commission’s mandate towards a secure and inclusive digital economy.
