The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), is yet to have many of the polling units set up with election materials as well as have the materials dispatched to the various polling centres across Delta State in Southern, Nigeria.

At about 9:30am local time, no INEC official or Adhoc Staff was seen in many of the polling units across the state including Ward 9 Government Model Secondary School GRA 1 and 2.

Eligible voters who came out in their numbers in these polling units have “expressed sadness” over the situation.

One of the Domestic Election Observers, Fidelis Norbert of the Total Care for Peace and Development Initiative, (TCPDI), Delta state LGA, Aniocha North, described the situation as a very ‘disappointing’ one.

He expressed his disappointment, saying, “The people have shown willingness and preparedness to vote but INEC is not helping to encourage a smooth flow

Norbert said he had visited the INEC office but there was no one to give him any vital information.

Earlier, Voice of Nigeria had reports that INEC was ready to kick off with the election exercise by 8am local time in 5,863 polling units of the 25 local government areas in Delta State.
