Pope Leo Urges Israel’s Herzog to End Iran War

Pope Leo on Friday held a telephone conversation with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, urging renewed dialogue to help bring an end to the ongoing Iran conflict, the Vatican said.

The Pope called on the Israeli leader to “reopen all paths of dialogue” as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region.

He also emphasised the need to protect civilians and uphold respect for international and humanitarian law, reinforcing the Vatican’s growing concern over the humanitarian impact of the conflict.

The Vatican noted that the Pope has remained a vocal critic of the war, repeatedly calling for peaceful resolution and adherence to global legal norms.
