
As part of efforts to strengthen grassroots sports development across Nigeria, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Adebayo Adeyinka, received a delegation from the Committee of Youths on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS) at his office in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The meeting focused on potential areas of collaboration aimed at revitalising Nigerian sports through talent discovery, improved grassroots infrastructure and policy reforms.
During the discussions, both parties emphasised the importance of integrating sports with youth empowerment initiatives and national unity, noting that grassroots engagement remains key to building a sustainable sports sector in the country.
The CYMS delegation was led by its Director General, Obinna Nwaka, who was accompanied by the organisation’s Director of Contacts and Mobilisation, Kelechi Ugwumba.
Speaking during the visit, Nwaka commended the presidential aide for the warm reception and praised his commitment to advancing grassroots sports development, in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He noted that stronger partnerships between government offices and youth-based sports organisations, would help unlock the country’s vast sporting potential while creating opportunities for young Nigerians.
In his remarks, Adeyinka reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote talent development and youth participation in sports at the grassroots level.
The visit forms part of ongoing consultations by CYMS aimed at fostering partnerships that will strengthen Nigeria’s sports ecosystem and empower young people through sports.
