President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Nigeria’s former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Eluonye Irabor, for authoring a book on the Boko Haram insurgency, describing it as a valuable contribution to national security discourse.
The President said the publication would deepen the country’s understanding of the origins and dynamics of Boko Haram, while providing useful insights for addressing similar security challenges in the future.
The President stated these on Sunday in a statement issued by his Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, while congratulating General Irabor on his 60th Birthday.
President Tinubu said the launch publication was for soul-searching and not an indictment on anyone.
Congratulating General Irabor, the President lauded the ex-Army chief as a true war commander and defender.
He described General Irabor as a patriotic service to the country and a leader within the military.
“He was courageous. General Irabor remains one of the most remarkable soldiers this country has ever produced, President Tinubu remarked.
General Irabor held the position of CDS, the highest-ranking military position in Nigeria, during the height of the Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East. He hails from Ika South Local Government in Delta State.
President Tinubu wishes Irabor many years of good health and invaluable services to the nation.
