President Tinubu Returns To Abuja After Yuletide, Ghana Trip

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja, the nation’s capital following his participation in the swearing-in ceremony of Ghana’s 32nd democratically elected President ,John Dramani Mahama.

The President’s aircraft touched down on Tuesday evening at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 9:30 pm, where he was received by the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila and other top senior security officials.

President Tinubu in Accra as a special guest of honour during the swearing-in ceremony of President Dramani Mahama lauded democracy in Africa, he said successful democratic transition in Ghana and other African countries had laid to rest the questions on the continent’s democratic capacities and productive endeavours.

The Nigerian Leader emphasised the importance of collaboration among member states of ECOWAS.

He also advocated for a united approach to tackling pressing concerns of poverty, youth unemployment, instability, insurgency, and other challenges hindering the progress of the region.

It would be recalled that President Tinubu departed Abuja for Lagos December 18th, where he spent his christmas and New Year holidays.

The President while in Lagos met with the leadership of the National Assembly, and former principal officers of the National Assembly led by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

At the meeting, President Tinubu reaffirmed his determination to lead Nigeria towards a prosperous future.

He emphasised that the well-being of Nigerians is central to his administration’s efforts.

The Nigerian Leader at his Lagos residence also hosted members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) where he urged the governors to prioritise the development of local councils.

At the meeting, the Governors of the 36 states restated their commitment to work under President Tinubu’s leadership and to partner with his administration in advancing the nation’s development.

President Tinubu also hosted His Royal Majesty, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, Ogbagba II.

The president at his ikoyi residence with the Awujale, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with traditional leaders.

He applauded the invaluable role of traditional institutions in fostering national cohesion, economic development and governance at various levels.
