Reddit Unveils New Tools to Boost Engagement

In an effort to increase platform engagement, Reddit unveiled a number of new tools on Thursday that will assist users in following community guidelines and better understanding the performance of their content.

The announcement follows a recent dip in quarterly user growth due to a change in Google’s algorithm that impacted traffic from the search engine. However, traffic from Google has since recovered, according to CEO Steve Huffman.

Like its competitors, Reddit has been investing in new tools to attract more users and stay competitive in the crowded social media landscape.

Among the new features is a “rules check” tool, currently being tested for smartphones, to help users comply with specific subreddit rules.

Other additions include a post-recovery tool, which allows users to repost content to an alternative subreddit if their original post is removed for rule violations.

Reddit will also recommend subreddits based on post content and inform users about the criteria required to post in specific communities.

The company has also enhanced its post insights feature, providing users with metrics on post-performance, including engagement statistics and audience interactions, to help improve future posts.

In December, Reddit launched an AI-powered search tool called Reddit Answers, currently in beta for a limited number of U.S. users, offering curated summaries of community discussions.

These developments reflect Reddit’s ongoing efforts to enhance user experience and engagement on the platform.
