Security operatives and emergency responders mounted a swift rescue mission on Tuesday after a passenger train derailed along the Abuja–Kaduna rail line near the Idda sub-station.
The coordinated operation, led by the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, ensured that all passengers were safely evacuated.

The multi-agency response involved NEMA, the Nigerian military, police, immigration officials, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), whose rapid deployment helped stabilise the situation and prevent further casualties.
Earlier, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) had confirmed the accident involving the Abuja–Kaduna AKTS service, assuring that all passengers on board were safe. In a statement, NRC Managing Director Kayode Opeifa said the derailment occurred at about 11:09 a.m. at KM 49, between Kubwa and Asham stations, near Abuja.
