Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, representing Gombe North Senatorial District in the Senate, distributes empowerment tools to his constituents. The items distributed are 50 cars, 500 motorcycles, 600 farm implements, such as hand pumps for irrigation, threshers, planters, 600 sewing machines and refrigerators for women’s empowerment in his constituency.
Senator Alkali said a special request was made by the management of the Federal Teaching Hospital and the Federal College of Education, Technical, Gombe for his interventions to provide road networks within the facilities. So far, he had been able to secure in the 2020 and 2021 budget of the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, the provision of such roads in the Teaching Hospital, which had been delivered.
According to him, plans were being executed to construct an additional gate in the new Accident and Emergency, A& E Unit of the Teaching Hospital to tackle emergency cases faster and efficiently.
Sen. Alkali added that the hospital’s management also requested that the A and E be expanded to accommodate more patients, which he said he had intervened. The unit was moved and expanded from a 15-bed capacity unit to a 45-bed capacity unit.
He enumerated the various intervention programmes in his Constituency Projects in all the five local government areas of Dukku, Funa Kaye, Gombe, Kwami, Nafada, covering water, education and health care services, with the construction of various classrooms, hospitals, solar-powered and industrial boreholes and the provision of transformers for electricity supply to his constituents.
He had introduced two bills, which were now before the Senate, and one had passed its 3rd reading, which is the Bill for the establishment of a College of Forestry at the Wawazange Grazing Reserve. In contrast, the other one, a Bill for establishing a Veterinary Research Institute in Gombe, had gone through its first reading.
He sought Governor Yahaya’s support for the Bill to scale through the 2nd and 3rd readings, which were expected to be conducted at the resumed seating of the Senate by January next year.
Senator Alkali thanked the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, for gracing the occasion and, most importantly, for his support in the National Assembly, which led to the successes recorded in his position as the Senator representing the people of Gombe North Senatorial District.
For Senator Lawan, the people of Gombe North should continue to support Senator Alkali because he was a good man and that his intentions were genuine, saying those of them in the legislature are the true reflection of President Buhari and governors, in their quest to ensure the dividends of democracy trickled down to the grassroots.
He said every legislator needed to execute constituency projects so that those at the grassroots would have a taste of government right at their domain.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya commended Senator Alkali for his tremendous intervention for the people of Gombe North Senatorial District while calling on the rest of the members of the National and State Assemblies to also emulate the kind gesture of Senator alkali.
He congratulated the people of Gombe State for electing people who were representing them well in various capacities, especially in not relenting in their efforts to reach out to fulfil their campaign promises.
Governor Yahaya announced that on Monday, December 20, 3 700 employments would be rolled out for youths in the state. He said the youths would serve as the link between the government and the people at the grassroots in delivering developmental projects to the people.
Speaking on behalf of all chairmen in the five local government areas in Gombe North Senatorial District, the Chairman of Funa Kaya LGA, Mr Ibrahim Cheldu, thanked Senator Alkali for positively impacting people’s lives of all five LGAs, through the provisions of water, classrooms and hospitals.
