Lagos State is gearing up for the debut edition of Shakara Festival, a four-day outdoor celebration of African music, culture, and lifestyle.

The Founder of Shakara Festival, Godson Oriaku, in a statement on Tuesday described the upcoming Shakara Festival as the ultimate destination for ‘Detty December’ in Lagos.

The four-day outdoor celebration of music, culture, and lifestyle will hold from Dec. 18 to 21, 2025, at the Nautica Beach Resort, Lekki, Lagos.

According to him, the festival aims to elevate African music on a global scale, while celebrating the vibrant sounds, style, and spirit of Nigeria.

Over 20,000 attendees are expected daily, including diasporans returning home and music lovers from across Africa.

During the day, festival goers will engage in panel discussions on the music business and creative economy, featuring leading industry voices.

The festival grounds will host “Shakara Junction,” a bustling marketplace for food, fashion, and crafts from local artisans and vendors.

Afternoons will feature live performances from renowned and emerging acts across Afrobeats, Soul, Alté, Gospel, Afro-Fusion, and Alternative genres.

As night falls, the energy will transition to “Shakara Afterdark,” a series of exclusive parties produced with Lagos’ most popular rave collectives.

Oriaku said the event was conceived to redefine the music experience in Nigeria.

“Shakara is about authentic expression and creating a space where people and music connect across cultures,” he said.

He added that the festival represents a new era for Nigeria’s creative scene and the unification of Africa’s diverse musical voices.

The Founding Partner of Shakara Festival, Abiola Francesca Dacosta-Ajayi, described it as “more than just a concert—it’s a cultural movement.

“We’re creating a world-class experience that celebrates our creativity and identity.

“This is our gift to Lagos and a statement of Africa’s artistic power,” Dacosta-Ajayi said.

The organisers said the lineup of performers would be revealed in the coming weeks, promising an impressive showcase of African talent.
