Society of Engineers Urges Nigerians to engage Registered Members

The National President of the Nigeria Society of Engineers, NSE, Tasiu Gidari-Wudil has attributed building collapse in Nigeria to entrants of unprofessional developers into the system.

Gidari-Wudil said registered engineers have not been indicted in building collapses and called on Nigerians to always engage qualified personnel in their projects.

He stated this as he arrived in Anambra State for the investiture of the new Chairman of Awka Branch of the Society.

The President who arrived at the Anambra State International Passenger and Cargo Airport, Umueri, was received by the Awka Branch Chairman, David Okeke and other members of the society.

He said engineers have always made their mark in the society through local content initiatives.

Gidari-Wudil said; “the upcoming investiture ceremony would provide engineers another opportunity to address some of these challenges facing them and more.”

On flooding, Gidari-Wudil said that the issue can be tackled with proper water channeling and drainages.

He was represented by the Deputy National President of the Society, Margaret Oguntala.

The Awka branch Chairman of NSE, David Okeke said the theme of the investiture ceremony, which is “Reforming Of Road Sector In Nigeria” would serve as a brain storming event to see a new turn of events in the country’s road infrastructure.

He explained that his tenure would see engineers in the branch increase their capacity.

The National President, Gidari-Wudil, the NSE Chairman Awka Branch, Okeke and other members of the society later went on tour of International Convention Centre, Awka and the College of Postgraduate Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. They were received by the Provost, Professor Philomena Igbokwe.
