Residents of the South-South Community in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have expressed gratitude to Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu for his inclusive leadership and for entrusting the critical role of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory to Nyesom Wike.

The group expressed its gratitude in Abuja, the nation’s capital, during a Press briefing with members of the community residing in Abuja, through their National Youth Leader, Comrade Olali Henry.

Comrade Henry said the FCT Minister deserves commendation in transforming the nation’s capital, not a plan by some unpatriotic Nigerians to remove him from office.

“However, it has come to our attention that there is a recurring pattern: whenever a son or daughter of the South-South is appointed to a position of prominence at the federal level particularly in the FCT there follows a frequent clamour for their removal.

“We are fully aware that the current protests and strike actions are not entirely rooted in genuine grievances alone, but are often politically motivated and sponsored by certain interests from other regions who erroneously believe that the Federal Capital Territory is their exclusive preserve.

“Under Minister Wike’s decisive leadership, the transformation has been remarkable and progressive. In under three years, the FCT has witnessed massive infrastructure growth,” Henry said.

Similarly, the Youth Coordinator of Rivers State, South-South Nigeria, Nwaugha ThankGod, describes South-South leaders as very hardworking and trustworthy, and further calls on the political saboteurs to allow the Minister to face his national assignment.

“We therefore humbly crave the indulgence of our dear FCT workers many of whom are our brothers and sisters to grant the Minister more time to address the outstanding concerns in Abuja,” he stated.

In his response, the Youth President of Edo State, South-South Nigeria, Mr Innocent Idemudia, noted that the Minister deserves commendation for his efforts in transforming the capital city and President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We call on President Bola Tinubu to publicly reaffirm his vote of confidence in the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike. Let it be known far and wide that the South-South people in Abuja and across the region are united, vigilant, and ready to stand firmly by our kinsman as he serves our country with courage and vision,” Idemudia added.
