The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Abbas Tajudeen, and the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Benjamin Kalu, have congratulated the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
Speaker Abbas described Yilwatda’s appointment to lead the National Working Committee of the ruling party as strategic.
The Speaker, who noted at the APC NEC meeting that Prof. Yilwatda was adopted “under the guidance of President Tinubu,” said a notable politician from the North-Central geopolitical zone leading the APC has further reinforced unity and cohesion within the party.

Speaker Abbas stressed the need for the APC to respond strategically to Nigeria’s emerging political dynamics.
He applauded the APC for successfully navigating the leadership change and commended President Tinubu for solidifying the party’s dominance in national politics.
The Speaker urged Prof. Yilwatda to unite the party’s organs, structures, and caucuses towards victory in future elections and to sustain the APC as a formidable, viable platform for progressive governance.
Speaker Abbas also prayed for divine guidance and wished Yilwatda a successful tenure.
Similarly, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Okezie Kalu described Yilwatda’s unanimous adoption by the APC NEC as “a distinguished honour.”
Reflecting on the new chairman’s leadership attributes, Mr. Kalu stated: “Dear Chairman, congratulations on your emergence as the National Chairman of our party. This distinguished honour is a reflection of your outstanding leadership, unwavering commitment, and tireless dedication to our nation’s progress.”
He added: “Your adoption testifies to your capabilities and I am confident that your vision and leadership will inspire a new wave of progress and development.”
Mr. Kalu pledged the support of the APC caucus in the House of Representatives for the new leadership at the party’s national headquarters. He also assured of the full backing of the Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), a group he founded to support President Tinubu’s agenda and re-election bid.
“The members of Renewed Hope Partners (RHP), a group of nationwide ardent supporters for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which I founded are delighted to see you lead our party, and we assure you of our support and collaboration,” he said.
“Together, we will work tirelessly to achieve our party’s objectives and build a brighter future for our nation. We also look forward to partnering with you to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, since we consider his reelection as a joint task.”
“Once again, congratulations on this remarkable achievement. I wish you success and God’s guidance as you embark on this new responsibility,” Mr. Kalu added.
Prof. Yilwatda succeeds Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who resigned as APC National Chairman on June 27, 2025.
Until his appointment, Yilwatda served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development.
