Nigeria’s Super Falcons will intensify preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with a two-match friendly series against Cameroon in Yaoundé, as the countdown to Morocco gathers pace.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the ten-time African champions will travel to Yaoundé this week for a double-header against Cameroon women’s national football team.

The match gives head coach Justine Madugu a crucial opportunity to assess his squad against top continental opposition. With the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off in Morocco in a matter of weeks, Nigeria have opted for competitive match action.

The two friendlies, scheduled for February 28th and March 3rd, will form the core of the team’s final build-up phase.

Madugu is expected to depart Abuja with his technical crew and home-based players, including Anderline Mgbechi and Fatima Oloko, while foreign-based stars will link up directly with the squad in Yaoundé from their respective clubs.

Nigeria have been drawn in Group C, where they will face Egypt, Zambia and Malawi, while Cameroon will compete in Group D alongside Ghana, Cape Verde and Mali.

Although Nigeria remain the most decorated side in African women’s football, competition across the continent has intensified, with nations such as Zambia and Ghana emerging as serious contenders.

Beyond fitness assessments, the friendlies will serve as a high-intensity rehearsal against a familiar rival, a final opportunity for both teams to sharpen their competitive edge before Africa’s premier women’s tournament begins in Morocco.
