In a move aimed at fostering employment opportunities for Nigerians, Uche Nnaji, the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, has unveiled an innovative online platform named ‘Computer Village’.
The platform, which was launched under TechAdvantage Nigeria in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, is an online learning platform created to teach Nigerians how to repair phones, laptops, desktops, and other accessories to create jobs and promote skills and innovation in the country.
The Minister, while unveiling the platform, said TechAdvantage Nigeria is an ecosystem where apprentices connect with business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs learn from seasoned experts.
“Individuals can train and empower themselves through the academy, customers can contact and hire skilled individuals through the jobs platform, traders and startups can expand their reach through the online marketplace, and tech enthusiasts can come together to share knowledge, collaborate and build a more robust tech ecosystem,” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer of Sapphital Group, Mr Amu Ogbeide, said Sapphital is a digital solutions company that leverages technology to address challenges across Africa.

“This project is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology under the leadership of the Minister Chief Uche Nnaji to inspire and promote economic growth, and empower individuals across the country to acquire skills.
“The idea of Computer Village is to harness skills and learning methods on a particular platform for Nigerians to learn skills online across Nigeria, irrespective of your locations, religion, and tribe.” Ogbeide said.
In his goodwill message during the launch of TechAdvantage Nigeria, the Director General of the National Centre for Technology Management, Mr. Olushola Odusanye, welcomed the project and called on Nigerians to take advantage of it and explore its potential.
“I encourage Nigerians to commit themselves to achieving the desired objectives of this project, the issue that confronted us is not an issue to seek knowledge from outside, we need to construct knowledge by ourselves to transform Nigeria through science, technology, and innovation,” he said.
