Minister of Education in Nigeria has announced that more than 95,000 applications have been received less than a week after the launch of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiative.

Dr. Maruf Alausa made the announcement via his X handle, describing the surge in applications as “an incredible show of interest in skills development across Nigeria.”

He expressed the ministry’s excitement at the overwhelming response to the programme, which aims to equip Nigerian youths with industry-relevant skills for self-reliance and improved employability.

“I urge applicants to ensure that the names on their Bank Verification Number (BVN) and National Identification Number (NIN) records match in order to avoid delays during the submission process,” he said.
Addressing any technical issues
He also assured Nigerians that the federal government is actively addressing any technical issues encountered by applicants on the platform.

The TVET initiative was officially launched on Friday, May 30, 2025, as part of efforts to reduce unemployment and develop a globally competitive workforce as successful beneficiaries will receive certifications that are recognised both locally and internationally.
