Voice of Nigeria and the Tanzanian Broadcasting Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to foster promotion of African news perspective to the world.
The MOU was signed when the Director General of Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation, Dr. Ayub Rioba Chacha, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu in Abuja, Nigeria.
Okechukwu noted the importance of the MoU towards promoting Pan-Africanism as agitated by the founding fathers: Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Julius Nyerere.
He added that the mandate of VON was to promote the African perspective in truism and positivism through this collaboration.
Chacha said that VON presents a platform to speak the African truth to Africa and the world.
He said his visit is to establish links, promote broadcast in Kiswahili, and promote exchange of programmes on common interest.
After the signing of the MoU, the delegation paid a visit to the Director General of Nigerian Television Authority, Mallam Yakubu Ibn Mohammed.
The visit of TBC delegation will continue on Wednesday September 22, 2021 with a courtesy call on the Director General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN.
On Thursday September 23, 2021, he will visit the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama and later, the Minister of Information and Culture, Mr. Lai Muhammed.
