VP Shettima Pays Condolence Visit To Buhari’s Family In London

On behalf of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, upon arrival in London on Monday, visited and condoled with the family of the former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London on Sunday.

The Vice President also visited the late President’s nephew, Mamman Daura, who is recuperating in a London hospital.

Similarly, he visited former Military Head of State, Retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar, who is also recuperating after discharge from the hospital.

The condolence visits were conducted while the Vice President awaits the conclusion of procedures and documentation for the repatriation of former President Buhari’s body to Nigeria.

It was earlier announced that the corpse of the late President Buhari would arrive Nigeria today Monday but due to procedures for its repatriation, the corpse will now be conveyed to Nigeria on Tuesday.

Vice President Shettima is accompanied by Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Hassan-Hadejia.

Meanwhile, the Katsina State government has announced that the late President Buhari would be buried on Tuesday, July 15, in his hometown; Daura, Katsina State.

The Nigerian government has already declared Tuesday, July 15 a public holiday, in honour of the late former leader of the country.
