The Kano State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has distanced itself from party members who have joined a coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The Chairman of the PDP in Kano, Yusuf Ado Kibiya, made this known during a media briefing in Kano, insisting that the breakaway members do not represent the interests of the state chapter.

“We categorically distance the Kano State chapter from the breakaway members who have formed a coalition under the African Democratic Congress. This coalition does not represent the interests of the PDP,” he stated.

Ado Kibiya’s remarks follow reports that some notable PDP members, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have joined the ADC coalition in a bid to unseat President Bola Tinubu’s administration in 2027.

“However, the PDP Kano State chapter is reaffirming its unity and commitment to the party’s objectives,” he said.

He assured members that the Kano PDP remains united and focused on delivering quality leadership and achieving its core goals.

“The PDP is urging its members to remain focused on the party’s goals and is encouraging citizens to register with the PDP, seeing it as the vehicle for positive change in Kano State and Nigeria,” he added.

Ado Kibiya emphasised that the chapter’s position sends a clear message about its loyalty to the party’s principles, urging members to stay committed to its mission.

“We are working to ensure the party’s objectives are achieved,” he concluded.
