The Minister of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has described some political actors across the country as “hypocrisy and deceit” noting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s achievements in Abuja speak louder than the criticisms of those who only remember the masses when they’re out of office.

The Minister stated this while commissioning the Kugbo Bus Terminal in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.

The Kugbo Bus Terminal is the 11th project in the ongoing 17-day commissioning under the leadership of the FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike to mark the second year anniversary of the president.

According to him, “Some people claim they’re hungry now. But they were Speaker for 8 years, Governor for 8 years, Minister for 8 years. Only when they left office, they suddenly became hungry and started talking about the suffering masses. Is that not deceitful?” Wike asked pointedly.

“Why do we deceive Nigerians? People who wear one shoe in public and tell stories of hardship, but serve Crystal champagne in private. You claim to suffer with the people, but your lifestyle tells a different story. That’s not leadership, that’s manipulation.”

Wike called on Nigerians not to be deceived by emotional appeals from politicians who only seek to manipulate the people for power.

He added that, “You don’t need a PhD to know when someone is lying. My mother didn’t go to school, but she knew the meaning of ‘shut up.’ We must learn to tell ourselves the truth. Stop being fooled by those who pretend to suffer with you while enjoying the best of life behind closed doors.”

He urged Nigerians to start holding leaders accountable not just for what they say, but how they live.
