The Technical Adviser of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi, Abdullahi Adamu, has resigned from his appointment following Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to Bayelsa United.
Bayelsa United officials were attacked by Wikki Tourist fans after the match. The Interim Management Committee (IMC) slammed a three (3) point and goals deduction on Wikki Tourists and also fined the club 2.5M, while closing the stadium to fans.
Wikki Tourists became the third club in the 2022/23 NPFL season to face points deduction for violent conduct of fans in the course of a fixture following a ruling by the league body on Tuesday.
Adamu quit the club’s services through a letter to the Club Chairman, Balarabe Douglas, in Bauchi.
“You may wish to recall that since I assumed duty as Technical Adviser, I have not been accorded the opportunity to fully exercise the functions of the office,” the letter read.
“This is due to management interference and inability to take (care of) their responsibilities during league matches, which is in to public knowledge.”
This action by the management has rendered me helpless, thereby affecting the recent performance of the club and also threatening my career. Based on the above-stated reason, I hereby resign my appointment as Technical Adviser with immediate effect.”
The former Wikki Tourists technical Adviser however expressed his appreciation to the club management for the opportunity given to him to serve as Technical Adviser.
Adamu is the third Technical Adviser to resign from his position in three years from Wikki Tourists FC.
