World Top Female Boxers Clash In India

India is to host world female boxers in a 12-weight category fight in March 2023.

The International Boxing Association organizing the championships said the bouts which holds in New Delhi, India from March 15th – 31st 2023 will be open for female pugilists to register their interests soon.

According to the President of the Boxing Federation of India, Ajay Singh “the countdown to one of the world’s biggest boxing events in 2023 begins now. The World Championships are a testament to Indian Boxing’s unparalleled credentials and we, at the Boxing Federation of India, are geared up to deliver a spectacular experience”.

Mr Singh further said: “With the partnership of the IBA team, we are confident that these World Championships will help boost boxing globally.”

He expressed his excitement “about Indian Boxers making their mark on the global stage again and looks forward to inspiring action in the ring from March 15-31st”.

The 12 weight categories to be fought for are 48kg; 50kg; 52kg; 54kg; 57kg; 60kg; 63kg; 70kg; 75kg; 81kg and +81kg. Fans across the world will see the one inch punch; the rope-a-dope moves of Muhammed Ali; body barrage of Iron Mike Tyson; the resilience of George Foreman and the bomb punch of Sonny Litson as well as great foot works of prominent boxers.

It was learnt that modern technology will be deployed for the India Championships.

Boxing was featured at the London 2012 Olympics for the first time as a sport for women.

Nigeria has been shining of late at the Commonwealth female boxing events but was not at the last Olympics because the country failed to participate at the qualifiers.
