Nigeria’s governing party, the All Progressives Congress, APC is working on reaching a consensus regarding zoning the principal offices in the country’s incoming 10th National Assembly to different geo-political regions.
The APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu stated this while speaking to journalists at the party’s National Secretariat at the end of a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee.
Senator Adamu explained that the President-Elect has to be involved in the decision of zoning.
“When we do the zoning meeting and we don’t just go alone as a party, zoning is to take along the person who has the mandate of this country, the president-elect, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinibu, we want to take him along. He travelled after the election and he came back only last week and we have to carry him along. And we cannot stop those who are ambitious or zoning interest, or individual interest, we cannot deny them and as long as that is there, we have to find a way, persuasively of reaching some level of consensus. That’s is what we are working on. It is not a one-day affair” Adamu said.
Also Speaking to journalists with regard to a law suit filed by a member of the APC National Working Committee against the APC National Chairman and National Secretary, the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka said a committee had been set up to look into the matter.
Law Suit
It would be recalled that the APC National Vice Chairman North-West, Mr. Salihu Lukman filed a law suit against the National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore of the APC.
Mr. Lukman was accusing the APC officials of breaching the party’s constitution on several grounds.
However, speaking to journalists after a meeting of the Committee set up by the APC, the party’s National Vice Chairman Northeast, Salihu Mustapha said Mr. Lukman has agreed to withdraw the case from the court unconditionally.
“We had intimate consultations with our brother, the National Vice Chairman North West, Comrade Salihu Lukman on issues you are aware of, like the legal action and some other publications credited to him and we can reach the resolution that this suit is going to be withdrawn and unconditionally he has rendered his apology for any seeming embarrassment this his suit and publications may have caused” Mustapha said.
Mr. Mustapha added that the APC National Working Committee, NWC is an indivisible unit that will continue to work together. He also expressed the NWC’s intolerance for indiscipline by members of the party.
