The Northwest leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC have met with the Governors, Ministers and the gubernatorial candidates from the seven states of the zone to review the state of the party at both national and zonal levels.
During the stakeholders meeting at the Government House in Kaduna, participants received a report from the National Vice Chairman, Northwest, Malam Salihu Lukman on the state of affairs of the party in the zone.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Zonal Secretary of the party, Musa Mailafiya Mada in Kaduna.
Mada said, while reviewing the report, they acknowledged the challenges experienced by some state chapters of the party and resolved to promote efforts at reconciliation as an urgent priority.
According to the statement, the stakeholders also welcomed the idea of meeting frequently in order to strengthen the party in the zone, as well as improve leadership engagements and cohesion within the Northwest.
The meeting noted the contribution of the region to the emergence and growth of the APC and its electoral viability, with the zone providing about 39% of the votes which APC recorded in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections respectively.
The zone resolved to aggregate its interests and vital concerns, and as well, engage accordingly with the presidential candidate of the party.
Participants requested the National Vice Chairman, Northwest to ensure that the consultative meeting is sustained as a vital tool for cohesion within the party.
