Murder: Benue Governor Orders Arrest of Suspects

The Governor of Benue state, Hyacinth Alia, has ordered the arrests of five individuals for their involvement in the murder of two citizens from Kano State

The suspects were apprehended by law enforcement agencies in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State

Governor Alia gave the order after being briefed by security officials and strongly condemned the heinous crime.

He instructed the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to “identify and apprehend all criminal elements operating in the state promptly.”

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of the two Kano indigenes.

He emphasised the peaceful and hospitable nature of the Benue people and vowed to eradicate criminal activities tarnishing their reputation.

Governor Alia also extended his condolences to the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, promising that “justice will be served.”

The two Governors held discussions following the incident, with Governor Alia calling for calm and assuring the people of Kano State that “those responsible for the killings will be held accountable.”
