New Minister of Finance pledges to grow Nigeria’s economy

The Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun has promised to drive Nigeria’s economy to the next level, as he resumes duty, address ng that he is poised to ensure the impact of economic reforms will be reduced to the minimum.
He said this at the welcome ceremony organised by the members of staff of the ministry in Abuja, after the swearing in ceremony by the Nigerian President on Monday.
Edun said President Bola Tinubu has set goals on macro, physical and monetary policies, and measures for the country  to advance.
He said that  if the country patiently followed the steps outlined by the President, it would be stabilised in no time.
“God’s time is the only time. I am simply Wale Edun. Thanks to Tinubu and Zainab Ahmed, I will build on what she left behind and take it to greater heights. We need to deliver and perform. Expectations of Nigerians are high. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has taken key macro, monetary and fiscal measures that will change the economy.
“It is our duty to minimise the pains that will come with the reforms. We  have a job to do to ensure that Nigerians are not left behind.
“ I have seen the digitisation, let’s all work together to achieve all the goals,” he said.
He commended the ministry staff for the warm reception given to him.
The Permanent Secretary on Special Duties, Udo Ekanem, said the ministry was ready to work with him and promised to put in their best.
“We are lucky to have you looking at your wealth of experience, Staff of the ministry are receptive to change and innovation and pledge to work with him” he said.
