Doma United, which is one of the newest clubs in the country’s elite league, sit at the top of the NPFL table with 21 points, one higher than Lobi Stars, who lost to Bendel Insurance 1-0 in Benin.
The ‘Savannah Tigers’ as Doma United is known have now remained undefeated in the last seven games.
Enyimba 1-0 Sunshine Stars
Enyimba FC returned to winning ways after a 1-0 defeat of Sunshine Stars, courtesy of Chijioke Mbaoma’s 47th minute penalty.
Sunshine Stars looked for a way back into the encounter but Enyimba defended well to see out the match.
Bendel Insurance 1-0 Lobi Stars
In another game, Bendel Insurance ensured they remained unbeaten at home as they defeated the in-form Lobi Stars 1-0 in a tense match at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
Both teams matched each other man for man, creating numerous chances in the match. However, the ‘Benin Arsenal’ finally got the breakthrough in the 95th minute through Junior Osaghae to earn a vital win for Bendel Insurance.
Lobi Stars, who prior to the game topped the table saw they were about losing the top spot, put everything they had to restore parity. But all their efforts were thwarted by a resolute defence line.
