Family planning: Sokoto health workers seek improved service delivery

Health Workers in Dange-Shuni local government area of sokoto state has solicited for more refresher training from private and other donor agencies to compliment government efforts for effective family planning service delivery.

Hajiya Asabe Dauda, officer in-charged of family planning in the Primary Healthcare Center of the local government, made the plea during an assessment tour by voice of Nigeria correspondent on the activities of family planning in the area.

 

The assessment tour was organised by a non governmental organization DEVCOM/TCI in some selected local government areas of Sokoto state.

 

She noted that considering the crucial roles family planning play in improving socioeconomic development of the people in the state and how people are accepting the program, there is needs to improve service delivery .

 

She said training the health workers would go a long way in assisting to achieve both national and international family planning goals.

 

Dauda further said with the training and collaborative efforts, it will set the stage for a more robust and accessible family planning, aiming to positively impact the health and well-being of residents.

 

She highlighted that the Center services about 200 to 250 women monthly with different categories of the planning.

 

“In a month the centre received and deliver services to more than 200 women across various communities and villages.

 

” They received about 120 women that received implant, 80 injection, 50 pills and sometimes condoms, so with effective training we would be able to handle various cases without any contradictions and more challenges”, she added.

 

The officer in-charged urged private partners and other relevant stakeholders to key in and increase supply of family planning commodities to address increased demand gap in the place.
