Anambra State has been chosen to host the second round of this year’s Beach Soccer Tournament, scheduled to hold in the month of May.

This was disclosed by the Secretary, Anambra State Beach Soccer Association, Emma Nsoedo, during an interactive session with Sports Journalists in Nnewi. He said arrangements are in top gear to ensure successful hosting of the tournament, scheduled to hold at the Nnewi High School Beach Soccer Pitch.

According to Nsoedo, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in the state, the vintage Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors will make its maiden outing in National Competition slated to hold in Kebbi State from 10th-13th April, 2024.

He told sports writers that members of the association had been working hard to promote the game in the state, even as they encourage more private sector driven investment to form more teams that will participate in National Beach Soccer League.

While acknowledging benefits derivable from the game and its sponsorship, Nsoedo commended those who had invested so much in formation of Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors and called for government support services.

In a comment, the Captain of the Team, Chinweze Gabriel, assured of their determination to make the state proud during the competitions as they had been training rigorously to achieve positive results.

Responding, the State Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Chimezie Anyaso, promised to support and offer professional services to create more awareness that could attract increased investment needed to take the game to greater heights in the state.
