Anambra State Traders Sports Competition Begins With A Bang

The second edition of the highly anticipated Anambra State Traders Sports Competition got off to an exciting start on Friday. The event kicked off with a thrilling tennis match between Albert Anene of Odera Market Awka and Chibuzo Nwankwo of Eke-Oyibo market Amawbia at the Awka City Sports Club Centre.

Anene emerged victorious in the match, defeating Nwankwo with a score of 6-2: 2-2, marking his first win in the competition. In another successful match for Odera Market, Uchenna Omeifekwem triumphed over Ndubuisi Anierobi of Eke-Oyibo in Table Tennis with a score of 11-2 and 11-2.
The reigning champion of the event is Anierobi Chimobi of New Spare Parts Market, Nnewi, with Emeka Obidike of Odera Market, Awka as the first runner-up. Omeifekwem, who spoke to journalists after his victory, expressed his joy at defeating a younger opponent in a sport he has been passionate about since his school days.
The competition also saw action in draught, with the representative of Odera Market securing a 2-0 win over his counterpart from Eke-Oyibo market.
Organised by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) in partnership with the Anambra State Amalgamated Traders Association, the competition is currently in the elimination stage across seven zonal centres, including Awka, Oyi, Onitsha, Idemili, Ogbaru, Aguata, and Nnewi.
However, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill and sportsmanship among traders from various markets in Anambra State.
