Delegates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Gombe have approved Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya as the Governorship Candidate for the gubernatorial election in 2023.
After being accredited, through a voice vote, 563 out of 570 delegates, affirmed their support for the candidature of Governor Yahaya, being the only available APC Governorship candidate in Gombe State.
The Chairman of the Committee Dr Danjuma Dabo, said the voice vote was adopted because it was acceptable and approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He declared after the voice vote that Governor Yahaya was now declared the Governorship party’s flagbearer of the APC in Gombe State.
Accepting his mandate, the APC Candidate thanked the delegates, INEC Official, the party leadership and members, especially those saddled with the responsibility of conducting the primaries from the National Headquarters of the party.
He said their support would give him the courage to surmount the hurdles ahead.
Governor Yahaya pledged to ensure that the party remained strong and united to retain power by the election in 2023, while urging members to work for the progress of the party.
He will now join Mr Muhammad Jibrin Barde of the People’s Democratic Party and other governorship candidates of other parties to contest for the governorship seat in 2023.
