The All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed the global recognition of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as transformative initiatives that have positioned Nigeria on the path to unprecedented prosperity.

In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said it was “heartened by the global acclaim of President Tinubu’s economic reforms that are yielding extraordinary results and signaling that Nigeria now stands on the cusp of prosperity never before seen in our history.”

According to the party, under President Tinubu, Nigeria is witnessing the emergence of a vibrant, diversified, and resilient economy driven by “inclusive growth, job creation, and increased local production.”

This transformation, it said, marks a clear departure from the country’s historic dependence on oil, ushering in a new era of sustainable development.

Mr. Morka noted that economic growth remains the most potent antidote to poverty and underdevelopment, as it creates jobs, boosts incomes, expands infrastructure, and enhances access to essential services, laying the foundation for peace, stability, and national cohesion.

He cited the ‘‘remarkable economic performance’’ recorded in the second quarter of 2025, when Nigeria’s GDP grew by 4.23%, surpassing the IMF’s projection of 3.4%.

The impressive result, he said, earned Nigeria an upgrade in the IMF’s forecast to 3.9% in 2025 and 4.2% in 2026.

Similarly, the World Bank projects Nigeria’s growth to accelerate from 4.2% in 2025 to 4.4% in 2027, driven by the rapid expansion of services, agriculture, and other non-oil sectors.

“These gains,” the APC noted, “are even more remarkable given the backdrop of a slowing global economy, with global growth expected to decline to 3.1% by 2026.”

While acknowledging persisting challenges such as “food inflation, poverty, and infrastructure gaps,” the APC said government policies and targeted interventions are already addressing these issues.

It referenced World Bank projections indicating that “poverty levels will begin to decline from 2027,” as gains from ongoing economic strategies, especially in agriculture and social protection take effect.

The statement also highlighted a series of milestones under President Tinubu’s administration, “including hitting the non-oil revenue target four months ahead of schedule and surpassing ₦2 trillion in FAAC monthly allocations for the first time delivering unprecedented capacity to all tiers of government to accelerate development and improve the living conditions of all Nigerians. The Nigerian Customs also exceeded its revenue target, collecting ₦3.68 trillion, ₦390 billion above set target.”

The APC further said “The end of Ways and Means financing, improved transparency in NNPC remittances, and harmonization of the dual exchange rate have contributed to reduced inflation (20.1%) and stability of the Naira, even against oil price volatility.”

The party also commended the administration’s success in attracting foreign direct investment, including the “$300 billion commitment from Qatari investors,” which it described as a testament to renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.

Mr. Morka asserted that President Tinubu’s forward-thinking leadership has freed the nation from the “suffocating grip” of oil dependency and repositioned Nigeria as a “producing and exporting nation,” with dynamic growth in agriculture, manufacturing, creative industries, science and technology, marine economy, and solid minerals.

The party dismissed opposition criticisms as “self-serving and empty rhetoric from a rudderless and confused opposition incapable of offering a viable alternative.”

“President Tinubu remains focused on building a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria,” Mr. Morka said. “His re-election in 2027 will further consolidate the nation’s march toward lasting prosperity.”

The APC called on Nigerians to continue supporting the President and the party’s reform agenda, emphasising that the nation stands “tall with renewed hope, determination, and optimism, ready to claim the fullness of the promise of our national creed.’’
