Bendel Insurance tops NPFL, beats Plateau United 1-0

Bendel Insurance FC of Benin on Saturday pipped Plateau United FC of Jos 1-0 to secure a second victory in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Insurance hosted the North Central club for their Day 2 match of Nigeria’s apex league, decided at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

The efforts of the home team paid off in the 15th minute when Benjamin Tanimu scored from the spot kick to put the Benin side in front.

Tanimu stepped forward to take the penalty kick following a foul by the Plateau United’s player inside the 18 yard box.

The Jos team, however, strived to level up the game, but the home side were too formidable to concede an equaliser.

Similarly, Insurance also made efforts to extend the lead, but the away side proved too stubborn to allow for more goal.

With this victory, Insurance now have six points from two games.
