The Federal Executive Council has approved over N14.3 billion for the training of non-graduate beneficiaries of the N-Power programme, one of the components of the country’s Social Investment Programme.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq stated this while briefing the media after Wednesday’s meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

She said 7.5% VAT would be charged on the contract sum.

“These non-graduate beneficiaries of N-Power are going to be trained for nine months after which they will be given starter packs.  Then, they will go and start their own businesses.

“This is part of the government’s Social Investment Programmes geared towards supporting our teeming unemployed population, especially the youth.”

Farouq said that four Federal government agencies would be engaged to train the beneficiaries in different skills.

According to the minister the agencies are the National Institute of Transport Technology, NITT; Industrial Training Fund, ITF; National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism and the Hydro Equipment Development Institute, HEDI.
