Ebonyi State Governor Swears in New Education Board Chairman

The Governor of Ebonyi State in Southeast Nigeria has sworn in Mrs. Patience Ogodo as the New Chairman of Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

 

The Governor performed the swearing-in ceremony at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Ochoudo Centenary City Abakaliki the State Capital.

 

Also sworn in as members of the Board include; Dr. Livinus Ezeuwa as Secretary, Chief Samuel Okoronkwo, Chief Ofor Okorie, Mr. Chijioke Nwuzor, Mr. Julius Nwokpor, Lady Virginia Oketa, Mr. Marcelinus  Nwazufu and Mrs. Adaeze Akochi among others.

 

Addressing the newly sworn-in appointees shortly after taking the oath of office, the State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, congratulated them for making the list and charged them to be committed and work hard to revitalise the State Primary Education sector.

 

He said there are challenges facing the office but expressed confidence in the competency of the sworn-in Chairman and members of the Board in surmounting the challenges.

 

Governor Nwifuru called on all appointees of his administration to adopt his Campaign Manifestos which is anchored on the People’s Chatter of needs in the discharge of their duties to deliver dividends of democracy to Ebonyi people.

 

Earlier in a backgrounder, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Ben Odoh, said the appointment of UBEB Board members was established under section three of Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board Law and enjoined the appointees to work hard to justify the confidence reposed on them.

 

In her acceptance speech on behalf of the members, the sworn-in Chairman, of Ebonyi State Universal Basic Education Board, Mrs. Patience Ogodo, thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve in that capacity and promised to work as a team to deliver on their mandate.

 

The State Deputy Governor, Princess Patricia Obila, Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike, the State APC Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha and other Principal Officers of Government, attended the event.
