The Minister who spoke with newsmen in Akure on Saturday, said the simple rules laid down by the commission was easy to follow.
“If the electorate follows these simple rules, they should have no problem because I typed in the code provided by INEC for location of unit, and knew my unit and ward this morning.
He also praised the electorate for a peaceful conduct, saying that it was a new dawn for democracy in Nigeria.
“I can see that people came out in mass to vote in their leaders and I am glad.
“As far as I know, there have been no issues, of course a few logistical problems here and there.
“People are excited and are impressed with INEC. They have not done badly at all,” he said.
Adegoroye voted at 11:00 a.m at Unit 15, Iro Ward 9, Oshinle in Akure South Local Government Area.
Also, speaking Princess Oladunni Odu, the Secretary to State Government, while commending INEC for the peaceful conduct of election, said it was well coordinated.
Odu, who voted at Idepe/Okitipupa Ward 13, Unit 35, also lauded the use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) technology which she said was perfect and seamless.
“I commend INEC and its staff for punctuality and, especially, the BVAS that is working perfectly for a hitch-free exercise.
“I also give kudos to voters who troop out massively to cast their votes in peaceful manner,” Odu said.
Similarly, Mr Eyitayo Jegede SAN, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, described the voting process and the experience as worthwhile.
He enjoined the electorate to ensure that the peaceful tempo of the election prevailed till its conclusion.
Jegede stated this after casting his vote at 11:23am at Owode/Imuagun Unit 2, Ward 11 and Akure South Local Government.
“So far, so good, the detractors have been put to shame that there would be hiccups and the rest, but it has gone so well.
“You can see that money is not shared here, that is important to me and our democracy. The policy of not sharing money at units should be encouraged, there should be no vote buying.
“You compromise democracy if you turn everything into monetary considerations for just few hours, and the money will be spent and then you suffer thereafter,” he said.
