The Kaduna state Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai has expressed satisfaction with the general election, describing it as peaceful and orderly.

He made the commendation before casting his vote at his Unguwan Sarki polling unit, Kaduna.

According to him, so far, everything has been smooth except for three incidents where a rice mill was attacked yesterday and has been kept under control, another incident in Southern Kaduna where ballot boxes and BVAS were snatched and in Soba Local Government Areas another incident of two ballot boxes being snatched.

But he said the incidents do not pose any threats because the new technology has gone beyond the primitive rigging system that the political actors are used to.

He commended INEC for the electoral improvement, saying so far, everything appears orderly across Kaduna state as all reports were positive.

The Governor raised concerns on the low voter turnout and therefore called on residents to come out and vote, considering the exercise is only done after four years to select leaders.

“It is the leaders that you elect today that will run the affairs of your state and in your country for the next four years. So please don’t stay at home, come out and vote. Polling units are open until 2:30pm.”

El-Rufai also expressed dismay over the low turnout of women at the polls.

He said generally, the process has been peaceful with a few incidents of malpractice and hoped that it will be sustained.

He prayed to God to choose for Nigeria the best leaders and that in his view, the APC Presidential candidate is declared the winner.
