Nigeria’s House of Representatives has confirmed the appointment of the new Service Chiefs in accordance with the provisions of the Armed Forces Act.
The resolution followed the consideration of the report of the Special Committee which screened the four nominees last week.
Presenting the report, the Chairman of the joint committee, Mr Babajimi Benson described the new Service Chiefs as capable given their numerous contribution to the current fight against insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
Mr Benson stated that “Following correspondence from Mr President and in conformation with provisions of the Armed Forces Act, the Ad-Hoc Committee hosted the nominees on their portfolios with thorough interrogation on their competence and field of operations.”
Similarly, the House also condoled with the Chief of Air Staff on the crash of the Nigerian Air Force aircraft that occurred last Sunday.
