The Akwa Ibom State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Umo Eno, has ratified 39 projects following consideration of three Finance and General Purpose Committee memoranda presented by the Secretary to the State Government.
The decision was taken at the Council meeting held at Government House, Uyo, where the Governor commended EXCO members for their efforts in advancing the State ARISE Agenda, charging them “to rededicate themselves to prompt and decisive actions towards delivering the administration’s governance blueprint”.
Governor Eno also advised political appointees intending to contest in the forthcoming general elections “to honourably take a leave and resign in accordance with the Electoral Act,” while reiterating the administration’s commitment to project delivery.

The ratified projects include 27 road projects covering over 167 kilometres across the state, including the dualisation and construction of the 36-kilometre Nung Udoe–Afaha Offiong–Ikot Imo–Itreto road, complete with bridges, outfall drains, and solar lighting; the 7.6-kilometre Ikwe–Odio road in Onna and Eket Local Government Areas; the 7.64-kilometre Ndon Eyo–Ikot Akpatek road in Onna Local Government Area; and the 4.0-kilometre Ekom Iman Junction–Afia Nsit–Nduo Eduo–Mbiokporo road in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
Council also approved the adoption and implementation of the Akwa Ibom State Policy on Aging to ensure that “older persons receive holistic care and actively participate in socio-economic life.”
It further directed that the Senior Citizens Establishment Bill, 2026, be forwarded to the State House of Assembly to provide a legal framework for the care and welfare of the elderly, including provisions for the management of the Oluremi Tinubu Senior Citizens Centre.
On agriculture and trade, EXCO reviewed reports on the N2B Agricultural and Traders Grants, noting “the positive outcomes recorded”, including expanded farm sizes, increased procurement of inputs, improved income levels, and “a reduction in the cost per ton of cassava,” alongside business growth.
Council also reviewed the implementation of the ARISE-GIFA rural water project, directing modifications to include community participation in maintenance.
Additionally, EXCO inaugurated a Steering Committee on Ward-Level Cooperative Societies, chaired by Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi, to drive “poverty alleviation, food security, and rural transformation” across the state’s 369 wards.
Stakeholders say the resolutions of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, particularly in advancing infrastructure development, social welfare, economic inclusion, and grassroots growth.
Observers note that, collectively, these measures reinforce the ARISE Agenda of Governor Umo Eno while supporting the broader national objective of sustainable development, poverty reduction, and improved quality of life for Nigerians.
